clikrf8 > Death Valley Days in B&W on TV in the 50s looked nothing like this. Mosaic Canyon is a short bumpy drive into the hills near Stovepipe Wells. It was 115 degrees in the shade at 2 pm. The canyon wound its way upward narrowing at time to a single file trail with walls close by on both sides. This is a view looking north from the mouth of the canyon.

This is a view from the beginning of Artists Drive, a one way drive through a pastel palette of pink, mint green, powder blue, lavender, ochre, gold, black and others.
clikrf8 > A wash and dip in the road that is named Artists Drive. We arrived there just in time to catch the evening light. The clouds cooperated by adding interest to the bright blue sky.

clikrf8 > The famed Stovepipe Wells Sand Dunes. This is an early morning capture. I wanted to get closer but didn't want to chance an encounter with a sidewinder.
clikrf8 > Darwin, California is a semi-abandoned town off California State Highway 190 westbound toward Lone Pine, California after leaving Death Valley. This gas station featured vintage pumps that hadn't been used for some time.
