Death Valley Days in B&W on TV in the 50s looked nothing like this. Mosaic Canyon is a short bumpy drive into the hills near Stovepipe Wells. It was 115 degrees in the shade at 2 pm. The canyon wound its way upward narrowing at time to a single file trail with walls close by on both sides. This is a view looking north from the mouth of the canyon.
